November is American Diabetes Month

There are two main types of Diabetes, simply named Type I and Type II. In general, Type I is diagnosed at a young (less than 20 years old) age and is due to genetics. Type II is generally diagnosed in adults and is considered, for the vast majority of people, to be preventable. This month we will focus on Type II Diabetes.

According to the CDC, more than 30 million Americans have Type II Diabetes. Last year, $327 billion was spent on diabetic health care costs alone. Not only is diabetes expensive, but it is also damaging to all organs and can lead to serious health conditions such as kidney failure, blindness, and amputation of legs/toes as well as increase the risk for heart attack and stroke. The time is now to end the epidemic of diabetes.
